Unilorin Student Commits Suicide Over Failure Of Project

A student of the University of Ilorin in his mid-20s, name withheld, has reportedly committed suicide at the weekend over unmet academic expectation. Tribune Online gathered that the deceased, from the Faculty of Agriculture, had failed in his final year project the last session and was made to repeat the current one. It was also gathered that the deceased student decided to take his life because he could no longer achieve the Second Class Upper Division grade which he had expected to make in his final year result. The deceased was said to have died after he drank a pesticide called Sniper. An indication for reason behind the suicide was obtained in a note which the deceased left behind on a social media, indicating that he had been accused of ‘copy and paste,’ a reference to plagiarism in research works. CHRIST THE KING SUNDAY INTRODUTION AND HISTORY Christ the King Sunday celebrates the all-embracing authority of Christ as King and Lord of the cosmos. Officially called the Feast of Our Lord Jesus Christ the King, it is celebrated on the final Sunday of Ordinary Time, the Sunday before Advent. In 2015, the feast falls on November 22nd. INTRODUCTION AND HISTORY Pope Pius XI instituted The Feast of Christ the King in 1925 for the universal church in his encyclical Quas Primas . He connected the increasingly denial of Christ as king to the rise of secularism.
